GetUpGetStarted: MMH Youth Entrepreneur Development Programme

One of our core goals at GetUp is to put people in the driver’s seat of their financial lives. This manifests in the solutions we create for protection but, we also have exciting initiatives that we drive to empower the next generation of digital-savvy South Africans. The MMH Youth Entrepreneur Development Programme is designed to support  South African SMMES with  business mentorship and coaching, business skills training, and business development support tools.

 An open call for businesses was put out in early 2022 and a cohort of incredible companies was chosen from a pool of industries namely; Information Technology, Marketing & Communication, and Green Economy. These companies have joined the programme and over the next 24 months hone their offerings and take their businesses to the next level.

Meet the companies that will be levelling up their craft:

  • Astrotech IT Solutions – a budding company established in 2021, this Joburg-based enterprise focuses on e-commerce platforms and functionalities, custom-built systems, and so much more. Their vision is to be one of the leading I.T and Digital Solutions companies that primarily hires youth and to be a step ahead in the 4th Industrial Revolution Race.
  •  Hirarechy Techno Innovate – headquartered in Durban, Hirarechy came about during the pandemic but has officially been in business for just under a year. Offering sought-after services; Software Development, Video Editing, Graphic Design, and more. The ultimate goal for the company is to provide new & old businesses the ability to compete with advanced and seasoned companies on the internet market to gain the same opportunities while growing their business.
  • Macluminium Trading Biofuel – this women-led business manufactures Biodiesel and Gylcerol as well as Seed cake (a by-product of both products). The central vision for business is to be one of the main suppliers of bio-diesel in Africa.
  • Netha Marketing Links – coming out of the small hub of George, Western Cape this women-led business offers a suite of marketing services including, but not limited to, digital marketing, email marketing and, social media strategies. In the increasingly digital world that we live in, their vision is to be a dynamic marketing agency known for its vibrant workforce and providing unique customised smart strategies to drive their client’s business
  • Ngasane – a dynamic marketing agency that aims to make an impact on the environment. The Joburg-based business offers bespoke graphic design, printing, digital marketing, and other marketing services. The young business aims to hone their craft while helping others.
  • Something About Francis – putting a twist on digital marketing services this Joburg-based business offers e-commerce advisory, web design and development, online advertising, influencer management, and a host of other services. Women-led, Something About Francis aims to create innovative, cutting-edge, and world-renowned content with the ultimate vision of building an agency that is run by young people and caters to a cross-section of clients.
  • Tessuto AVL & Technologies – ahead of the curve, Tessuto entered the business world in 2011 offering digital marketing, website design, email marketing services, and services relating to other key touch points in the digital ecosystem. Its vision is to become Africa’s trusted audio-visual, multi-media communications and information systems agency and leaders in the digital marketing arena.
  • Mentor Marketing SA – this women-led marketing agency came about in 2020. They offer the full suite of digital services including campaign management, social media marketing, and graphic design. Putting clients at the heart of the business, their aim is to provide tangible products, measurable results, and lasting gains for the client.
  • Mkhozi Media – opening their doors 5 years ago, the agency offers digital media, event curation, content development, and experiential advertising among other services. Coming out of the South African business hub, Joburg – their vision is to tell authentic stories from eKasi (the township) and to become a media powerhouse.
